Rochester Mills 21st Annual Oktoberfest Celebration September 27-28
NEW LOCATION – TRADITIONAL FALL FUN
(Rochester, MI) – Rochester Mills Beer Co. today announced its 21st Oktoberfest celebration taking place on Friday, September 27th and Saturday, September 28th at a new location in the North lot adjacent to the restaurant in downtown Rochester. The annual Fall Festival, which has become a tradition for thousands of families from around the metro Detroit area each year signifying the start of Autumn, will benefit local charities including Make-a-Wish of Michigan and YMCA Waves Swim team. Tent hours are Friday the 27th 5:00 pm until 11:30 pm and Saturday the 28th 1:00 pm until 11:30 pm. Admission cost $5 for adults at the tent; children 18 and under are admitted free of charge (with a paid adult).
“Our Oktoberfest celebration has become one of the biggest in Michigan,” said Stewart McWilliams, Rochester Mills Beer Co. Director of Operations. “This year we’ve moved the location due to recent construction in the area but are bringing back all of your favorite family fall festival activities.”
The Rochester Mills’ annual Oktoberfest celebration features all things German, from food and brews to music and dancing. Head brewer, Forrest Knapp has brewed three (3) batches of this year’s Oktoberfest Lager or about 1,400 gallons, which he expects to be gone by the end of the weekend. In addition to Oktoberfest, the event will feature Lazy Daze lite, Water Street Wheat and Juice Bigalow – Hop Gigolo NEIPA on tap inside the tent. There will be plenty of Bratwursts and knackwurst with sauerkraut, potato pancakes, corn dogs, hot dogs, soft pretzels, caramel apples, cotton candy, apple cider and more to enjoy.
The German band Enzian will set the mood playing all your favorite traditional German music on Friday from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm and again on Saturday from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm will showcase a full brass band on stage. Both Friday and Saturday the Carpathia Club dancing troupe will come out and perform.
The pony rides, petting zoo, bounce house, obstacle course, and carnival games have moved front and center for the event with literally something for everyone of all ages. For the adults, be sure to stick around for the traditional sauerkraut eating contest and a stein holding competition, which will be held both nights.
Inside the pub will feature live music Friday and Saturday nights from 9 pm until 1:30 am with no cover charge. Rochester Mills’ chefs have also created a special menu of traditional German cuisine to go along with their full pub-style menu for the weekend.
