Walter Hooper Live at the Pub
March 15 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Guitarist Walter Hooper’s original sound is a juxtaposition of classic rock, blues, pop, indie and a little bit of country, culminating in a crisp and fresh sound that Hooper has made all his own. While his cover tunes are exceptionally on-point with their original intonation, the musical expression is unique to him. His original works not only highlight this individual quality, but a melodic and ear-catching sound as well. Hooper’s ability to merge varying sound-genres to create his own niche begets musical maturity beyond his years.
At a tender age, Hooper began his musical journey on the drums, but soon found his way to the guitar. The guitar is the instrument he considers a part of his being, “an extension of my arm.” While honing his skills he discovered a love of the blues, particularly artist Stevie Ray Vaughan. Further studying provided more inspiration from important blues icons such as Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Albert King and Howlin’ Wolf.
In 2012, Hooper formed his first ‘real band’ and began gigging throughout Southeastern Michigan. He currently performs solo at many venues and is also in a duo, A Man Named Hooper, baring the combined names of him and percussionist John Aman. Additionally, he is the bassist for Blaine Fowler’s band, the Blaine Fowler Experience.
When Hooper is not performing, he conducts specialty music programs for a variety of organizations and schools, teaches guitar, and spends time in the studio working on his own projects and as a guest musician for other artists. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Journalism with a minor in English.
